Izabela Pluta

 

Izabela Pluta is an early career artist currently based in Sydney. She was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1979 and migrated to Australia in 1986. Pluta is a Master of Fine Arts (Research) candidate at the College of Fine Art UNSW, and graduated from The University of Newcastle in 2002 with a Bachelor of Fine Art Honours. She work in photomedia and installation, and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions including at Artspace, Sydney, Esa Jaske Gallery, Sydney, Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery at Inversek, Hobart, Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Soapbox Gallery, Brisbane, Gallery Wren, Sydney, Queensland Centre for Photography, Brisbane, Westspace, Melbourne, Tin Sheds Gallery, Sydney, Newcastle Region Art Gallery, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, and the Visual Workshop Gallery, Rochester NY, USA.

 

She lectures in Photography at The National Art School, Sydney and in The School of Art at the College of Fine Arts UNSW. She was co-Director of artist run space Rocketart, in Newcastle until 2005.

 

In 2006 she was awarded the Barcelona Studio Australia Council for the Arts Residency, and has participated in other residencies including Red Gate in Beijing in 2005, and IASKA (International Art Space Kellerberrin Australia) in 2004.

 

In 2007 she have will be exhibiting work at The Newcastle Region Art Gallery, Fremantle Art Centre, Inflight Hobart, and Westspace Melbourne.
